Twitter Data Breach: Hacker claims to have data of 400 million Twitter users, releases Salman Khan, Sundar Pichai's user data as Proof

As per latest news the data of 400 million Twitter users was put up for sale on the dark web in what has been described as one of Twitter's biggest data breaches. The news comes a day after Ireland's Data Protection Commission (DPC) released an investigation into a previous Twitter data breach that affected more than 5.4 million users. The last injury was discovered at the end of November. To prove that the data is genuine, the hacker posted a sample of the data to one of his forums. Sample his data includes information such as the user's email, name, username, number of followers, creation date, and possibly phone number.

This data leakage includes sensitive information of celebrities such as Sundar Pichai and Salman Khan. The hacker released a snapshot of leaked data and asked Elon Musk to pay a ransom to remove the breached data and avoid fines like 54 million dollars.

Sample data contains data of some of the top celebrities -
  • Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez
  • SpaceX
  • CBS Media
  • Donald Trump Jr.
  • Doja Cat
  • Charlie Puth
  • Sundar Pichai
  • Salman Khan
  • NASA's JWST account
  • NBA
  • Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, India
  • Shawn Mendes
  • Social Media of WHO
The sample data contains a lot of other important user data as well. Most of them lead to social media teams, which can be very damaging if the data breach is legitimate. According to Alon Gal, co-founder and CTO of Israeli cybercriminal firm Hudson Rock, the data is a vulnerability in an API that allows attackers to query his email and phone to retrieve his Twitter profile. It is most likely due to gender.

Hackers say they are open to "trading" through middlemen. with many celebrities. Phishing, cryptocurrency scams, SIM swapping, doxing and other politicians erode users' trust as a company and undermine current growth and hype. Also imagine that famous content creators and influencers are hacked on his Twitter and become ghosts of the platform, ruining your dream of a Twitter video sharing platform for content creators. Try it. Backlash.

Other threat actors have yet to verify the data, but Alon Gal said in his LinkedIN post: This is very similar to his 533 million database on Facebook, which he first reported in 2021, and Meta fined him $275 million. A breach of this magnitude could explode in front of Elon Musk, who has wreaked havoc on Twitter's business and politics. The DPC has already launched an investigation into previous violations.
